Employers Can Use Current I-9 Through January 21

What does this mean for employers?

Employers may continue to use the current I-9 form through January 21, 2017. As of January 22, 2017, the new form must be used. Then, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) plans to publish the new I-9 form by November 22, 2016. The current I-9 form contains "Form I-9 03/08/13 N" in the lower left corner of the form.

What is the I-9 form?

Form I-9 is the Employment Eligibility Verification form. Therefore, federal law requires that every employer hiring an individual for employment in the United State complete an I-9 form.
