IMGT Representative Testifies in Senate Subcommittee Hearing "Flatlining Care: Why Immigrants are Crucial to Bolstering Our Health Care Workforce"

On September 14, International Medical Graduate Taskforce (IMGT) Representative Attorney Sarah K. Peterson testified before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety in support of immigration reform for international medical professionals as a solution to the growing shortage of doctors and nurses in the United States.

"The problem we are trying to solve is not one of immigration; it is instead an effort to solve the growing crisis of access to the most basic level of medical care in the United States, for all Americans. This hearing is about the way targeted, sensible immigration reform provisions can ensure access to desperately needed physicians and nurses in the United States, particularly in rural and underserved urban communities." - Attorney Sarah K. Peterson
