Presidential Determination Released on Unexpected Urgent Refugee and Migration Needs

On October 22, 2021 the President released a new Presidential Determination regarding the current "Unexpected Urgent Refugee and Migration Needs." In this determination the President declared it is in the "national interest to furnish assistance under the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962 (MRAA)." The President calls for up to $976.1 million to be drawn from the United States Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund. These funds will help support the work of Operation Allies Welcome and related efforts made by the Department of State in meeting the needs of the current refugee crisis and migration demands.
