USCIS Announces eProcessing
May 23rd, 2019
On May 22, 2019, USCIS announced a new strategy called eProcessing that will accelerate USCIS's transition to a digital business model.
What is eProcessing?
eProcessing will allow beneficiaries to do everything online including applying for a benefit, communicating with USCIS, and receiving a decision for a case. The goal of the eProcessing strategy is to improve decision timeliness, increase transparency, and to expand the online filing services. According to USCIS, they receive over 8 million requests for immigration benefits each year. Technological advancements will make it possible for more applicants to submit these requests online. A paperless system is projected to be more effective for applicants, USCIS officers, and USCIS partner agencies.
As of right now, visitors for business, visitors for pleasure, and vocational students can apply online through this program. Soon, the program will expand to accommodate a wider variety of immigration benefits.
