USCIS Announces New Form I-539

USCIS Announces New Form…

USCIS held a teleconference last week to review revised versions of the Form I-539 and Form I-539A. The Form I-539 is an application to extend/change nonimmigrant status and Form I-539A supplements it. Official copies of the revised forms will be available on the USCIS website tomorrow, March 8, 2019, but you can view the unofficial version of the revised Form I-539 here and of the revised Form I-539A here. USCIS will continue to accept the old versions of these forms until March 21, 2019 as long as USCIS receives it by that date, but beginning March 22, 2019 USCIS will only accept the revised forms.

There are significant changes in the revised Form I-539, including the requirement that every co-applicant pay a biometrics fee and attend an Application Service Centers (ASC) appointment. If you plan to apply to extend/change your nonimmigrant status, make sure to thoroughly review the new form.
