AAMC's Amicus Brief Regarding Travel Ban

AAMC, or the Association of American Medical Colleges recently filed an Amicus Brief. This was in response to the request by the Acting Solicitor General to the Supreme Court for a stay in the "travel ban case." The case is officially known as Trump v. International Refugee Assistance Project, and also involves Trump v. State of Hawai'i. The organization argues against a stay of the district court injunctions related to the travel ban.

Thoughts from AAMC

A press release from the AAMC highlights that health professionals from other countries are critical in filling gaps in the medical workforce. These professionals conduct important research and develop cures for life-threatening conditions. This sector of the workforce helps to position the U.S. as a global leader in medical research. Suspending the entry of this group would "undermine the health security of our nation, especially as we face a looming physician shortage."
