CIS Ombudsman's Public Teleconference on Naturalization

On May 16, 2017, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security released a bulletin regarding naturalization and the Ombudsman's Office. (AILA Doc. No. 17051639)

What is covered in the bulletin on naturalization?

USCIS has "received an unprecedented number of naturalization applications in the last 12 months." Over 971,000 were received in FY 2016 compared with 738,000 in FY 2015. Technological issues and higher filing fees have complicated the agency's ability to process the applications.

Therefore, on May 24, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:00PM EDT, the Ombudsman's Office will hold a public teleconference. During this teleconference, the public may provide comments and concerns on the process of becoming a citizen. Additionally, all interested individuals are invited to register for the teleconference.
