Employers Must Use Updated Form I-9

As of January 22, 2017, Employers must now use the updated Form I-9, dated 11/14/2016, according to USCIS. Form I-9 is the form for Employment Eligibility Verification. This form is used to verify identity and work eligibility of every new employee hired after November 6, 1986. It is also used for the re-verification of expiring employment authorization of current employees. Prior versions of the form are now no longer valid. The version date of the form can be found in the lower left corner. As a result, employers who fail to use the appropriate version, 11/14/2016, may be subject to applicable penalties. This is enforced by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
